Committees
We have the following committees:
- Awards - Administers NAHU's extensive awards program, which recognizes the achievements of its members. NAHU's awards honor both individual members and state and local chapters for dedicating countless hours serving the association and the industry.
- Education/Programs - Ensures that NAHU's members are apprised of current trends and developments in the health insurance marketplace in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The committee seeks to accomplish this through ongoing partnership arrangements with qualified sources who have demonstrated superior knowledge in a given area.
- Federal and State Legislative - Provides legislative advice to the NAHU Board of Trustees and promotes communication concerning NAHU legislative policy among NAHU's members and chapters.
- Health Underwriters Political Action Committee (HUPAC) - Raises and distributes funds to candidates for Federal office. Candidates for HUPAC disbursements are recommended by NAHU members and by the HUPAC Board. Decisions regarding contributions are based on the candidate's support for the private market health care system and other relevant NAHU positions, their accessibility to NAHU members, and on other factors.
- Media Relations - The Media Relations Committee is charged with encouraging and assisting NAHU members with all aspects of media relations, including writing press releases, developing media lists and pitching stories to their local media.
- Memberhip and Retention - Charged with encouraging and assisting NAHU's state and local chapters in their membership recruitment and retention efforts. The committee also advises staff as to effective means to communicate and structure national membership development efforts.
- Public Service - Identifies opportunities to assist in community development.
